Reading through all these people bashing these movies has me shaking my head. Really what can you seek information from out of television movies about Ewoks? To criticize these movies as being too childish is like criticizing the smurfs for being blue.

These movies were made for kids and not the people like me who saw the unusual STAR WARS movies in the theater as a kid but are now in their 30s. Really though to be able to score two movies on DVD for about half the designate of a tank of gas to me sounds like an okay deal. People really should lighten up and acquire into narrative the audience these TV movies were made for.

I have seen both of these movies a dozen times & I admire them. Up until the Clone Wars cartoon, I refered to the Battle For Endor as the best non star wars star wars. I level-headed like them. I recommend getting them & enjoying them with the whole family. Putting them as a double feature is a tall view (is it too distinguished to hope for commentaries or featurettes too? ), but my only examine is this... why no third one? It seems like a salubrious understanding & Cindel promised Wicket she'd return. I guess 20 years is a long time to wait for another one. Maybe if they let me write it... Anyway, mammoth packaging & I can't wait for the 23rd. Extraordinary movies!

The film contains a mix of incredible archival footage with narration by Joan Allen and interviews with various art historians and others. At stop to 2 hours, it is rather long for a documentary and some may bag it wearisome at times. But with it's essential purpose education rather than entertainment, it is best appreciated by those with a strong interest in European art and Nazi atrocities. It is a very well made documentary, however, and comes highly recommeded to those with at least some interest in the subject matter.

How does one initiate to record the perfection that is this second season of "The X-Files? " Speaking from the perspective of having watched these shows as they aired, scare and anticipation doesn't launch to relate the four month wait between seasons one and two. The only awful thing about "Anasazi" is that it was prelude to a four month wait to get out what happen next. "Colony" is also David Duchovny's debut as a writer for the point to.

The seventh disk also contains some incredible and enlightening special features. The only factual minor complaint that I can consider to register about this DVD status is the case in which it comes. The outside conceal has interior flaps that seem to incessantly pick up caught on the case that holds the disks. Thanks for sticking it out and reading through this.

All but the Valentines Day explain are available on video and I enjoy all four books are composed out there. It's nice to witness that qualified quality and heartwarming emotional drama can quiet be appreciated. Thanks again. (No, I'm not acting anymore but I did go onto roles in "An Unmarried Woman" with Jill Clayburgh, "Turning Point" with Shirley Maclaine and some amazing television films like "The Adams Chronicles","A Perfect Match" and "The Migrants" Special hi to Traci in Canada. Yes,I remember spending many a chilly day in your school during filming!

I was 13 when this movie first came out. It touched me deeply and level-headed does. I noticed one reviewer said the filming was dreadful. You have to understand that this was filmed inexpensively, in the 70's as a childrens special.It was based on the book by Gail Rock and so it was as though looking at the illustrations in a book. We didn't have all those like technical affects they have now. And, even if they did, that's not what the movie was about. It was about family, emotions, the simpler times. That's what touched us.It tugged at our emotions and our heart strings. We didn't need gargantuan technical affects to entertain us. And if the feeling isn't there when you conception it. It never will be. So, if you're looking for incredible special effects, this isn't the movie for you. There are plenty out there, devoid the emotions. If your looking for a movie,that will touch your inner self, then this is the movie for you. I also am tickled to have the video sequels "The Holiday Appreciate" and "The Easter Promise". I only wish they'd beget available on video. "Addie and the King Of Hearts". I'm hoping it can be done as there are many of us that would adore to occupy it on video.

For the myriads of fans of the book, Beneficial News! Author Louis Sacher did the shroud adaptation, and Director Andrew Davis did an safe job in creating the mood, leading his blooming cast of young actors, and being faithful to the spirit and actuality of the book.

Stanley Yelnats IV (Shia LaBouf), is a hard-luck boy, not surprising seeing his great-great grandpa had a curse laid on him for eternity by Madam Zeroni (Eartha Kitt) . The Yelnats have had a habit of failure ever since. Stanley's Dad, (Henry Winkler) is working (unsuccessfully, of course) on inventing a perfect shoe-deodorizer. Ironically, Stanley is falsely arrested for stealing a spacious athlete's shoes. He is given a choice of jail or Camp Green Lake. Stanley innocently notes he's never been to camp before so---you fair know This Was Not A Top-notch Choice. Camp Green Lake is on a parched and barren desert. The lake disappeared a century before. Stanley is indoctrinated by down-and-dirty terrible Mr. Sir (Jon Voight) who informs Stanley his days will be spent digging 5' x 5' holes to earn "character" and any misstep will bring him to the Warden's (Sigourney Weaver) attention, a lady who coats her nails with rattlesnake venom.

His fellow inmates who like to be known as X-Ray, Armpit, Bent and Magnet greet Stanley with hazing and hard times. His only right ally is minute tiny Zero (Khleo Castro) who wants Stanley to drawl him to read. The day-in-day-out work is filthy, backbreaking and endless. But Stanley is learning some secrets that might permit him to atomize the age-old curse of the Yelnats.

Mr. Davis tells us Stanley and Camp Green Lake's history via flashbacks, and for the most portion does a profitable job keeping the legend provocative, though it might be overly complex for younger viewers. Jon Voight is priceless as thoroughly poor, gimlet-eyed, bone insensible Mr. Sir. Sigourney Weaver is unprejudiced terrorized of psychotic with her barely repressed rage at her set. The boys are rightly panicked of her. "Holes" has a radiant arc of a memoir and culminates in a manner that will have the audience cheering.

There are a few scary scenes that might be too noteworthy for the viewer under nine, as well as the flashbacks that could be hard to understand. If you have doubts about suitability, read the book both to yourself and the child. That draw you have a win/win area. This is a don't miss movie.

So when they introduced the movie, I was quite eager. Fragment of me was hopeful it would turn out well, the other piece of me was skeptical that it would be anywhere reach as gracious as the book. However, my fears were dashed. This movie was Incredible!

The memoir jumps wait on and forth a limited between three different tales -- the narrative of Elya Yelnats, the main character's "no marvelous, dirty-rotten, pig-stealing great-great-grandfather"; the myth of Stanley Yelnats IV himself; and the anecdote of a legendary outlaw, Kissing Kate Barlow. The three stories are interwoven quite ingeniously. In some cases, you aren't completely clear what the connection will be, but then when you get out, it fits perfectly.

The record IS slightly altered, of course, as most books-brought-to-movies tend to be. But it very considerable keeps the spirit of the unique book. The boys are very believable -- I especially worship Zero! Sigourney Weaver makes a wonderfully harmful warden. And John Voigt does a astounding insane portrayal of Mr. Sir.

This movie will support you laughing and titillating throughout. And if you enjoyed the book, you'll like this film!

I saw this in Fresh York when it played theatrically. I was skeptical at first that this wouldn't be anything more than a highlight reel but I speedily found out that's not apt. Planet B-Boy delves into the subculture of b-boying (breakdancing) and shows that it's not only a hobby, it's a lifestyle. It follows crews from all over the world who are brought together by the appreciate of expression by means of "B-Boying" and ultimately to the "World Series" of B-boying, "The Battle of the Year" which is an International competition featuring the best dance crews in the world. It is absolutely fantastic to leer these people defy the laws of gravity and do the physically impossible.

I saw this movie in the theaters when it was making its US tour. It was really really awesome. It wasn't honest about b-boying but also about the guys and their stories. But of course, the dancing is insanity and a must-watch.

Richard Farnsworth gives the performance of a lifetime as Alvin, this stubborn, prideful man, who has learned humility with age, and you can peek the wisdom of his years in his eyes. Farnsworth connects with the audience from the beginning, aptly conveying the yearning of a soul in need of atonement, and the determination of the man to carry out his amends. Sissy Spacek, also, gives a terrifically nuanced performance as Rose, the "monotonous" daughter who lives daily with demons of her have. That the members of the Academy failed to nominate her for best-supporting actress for her work here is nothing short of criminal; her Rose is a magnificent fragment of work. David Lynch, as well, has done a noteworthy job of bringing Alvin's sage to the conceal. He has woven a rich visual and emotional tapestry, all poignantly delivered with a gentle hand. Beautifully photographed, the lush vistas of the Midwest judge Alvin's set of mind, underscoring the deeper meanings of what is really a spiritual bound, during which the past mingles with the exhibit. Lynch has taken a wistful, almost poetic near throughout, which, together with the record is reminiscent of Ingmar Bergman's "Wild Strawberries." The scene in which Alvin finally meets up with Lyle is perfectly and touchingly executed, and is one of the most memorable scenes in the movie. The supporting cast includes James Cada (Danny), Everett McGill (Tom), Barbara E. Robertson (Deer Woman), John Farley (Thorvald), and Kevin P. Farley (Harold) . With an artistic hand, Lynch has crafted an unforgettable film. "The Straight Record" is Alvin's tale, but the bolt belongs to us; a reminder of what is really valuable in life, and the needs we all part at one time or another. It's an enthralling movie that will touch you and form you reflect, as well; and as far as I'm concerned, that's about as wonderful as it gets.

With 'The Straight Story' David Lynch has weaved together a subtle, inspiring myth about age, regret, and family. The sage is of Alvin Straight, a 73 year faded man who has seen most of what life has to dish out and learns that his brother suffered a stroke. With terrible eyes and no license, he sets out on a coast on a riding lawnmower to spy his brother, who he hasn't spoken to in ten years.

What I loved most about this movie is the simplicity; of the chronicle, the characters, the filming. Yet within that classic style is a movie that is incredibly animated. The stories that Alvin has to insist about his life are saddening, touching, and almost grisly. He talks about being weak, about fighting in World War II, and about his regrets of not speaking to his brother. He runs into quite a few people along the procedure who relieve him out, and their stories contribute to a beautifully crafted script.

Richard Farnsworth is convincing in the role of Alvin. His abilities are most especially outlined in the black tone of his assure, and the peep of regret and hope in his eyes. It is rare that I have grown to respect and cherish a character so powerful. David Lynch's direction is not dusky or creepy like his other works, but carefully and nicely photographed in ample harmony with the script. The cinematography is smoothe, and the extended takes point to his abilities as a director and the actors abilities as well.

If there is one hip hop documentary u gotta recall up, its Backstage. Whats more fun than seein Red and Meth gettin high? Whats more fun than seein Damon Scoot curse out da Def Dilemma prez? This documentary gets you so finish to the backstage action even tha artists was startin to obtain [mad] yellin at da cameras. Some people said there wasnt enough genuine concert footage: READ THE TITLE...! ITS CALLED BACKSTAGE NOT ONSTAGE!

The "Backstage" DVD is a tall gash of hip hop life showing you the behind-the-scenes, industry point of understanding on the hip hop music touring biz mixed with snippets (NOT whole songs) of some the hits songs performed live on the tour. Fair for the scene where Dame Straggle puts Def Dilemma prez Kevin Liles on blast for trying to select Roc-A-Fella's shine by giving all the artists on tour Def Plight Hard Knock Life tour jackets is worth the tag of the DVD alone.

However, I have had grief with 2 copies of the DVD I have bought so far. Both times, chapters 9-12 have played OK but won't quick forward or rewind. When you try to do either the DVD freezes up. I'm not obvious if I'm buying from a abominable batch of DVDs at the particular store I went to or if this is a predicament with all the Backstage DVD's but it's frustrating if you want to objective skip to a particular scene within any of these chapters. In summation: gargantuan disc for those wanting to eye some of the reality gradual the glitz and glamor of the hip hop music world but buyer beware: there may be problems with your DVD depending on where you pick it.

Me being a Bruce Dickinson fan to the max, I decided to rent this film after being furious about it finally being released here. Originally released in the UK as "Chemical Wedding", The film is about Professor Haddo, a bumbling teacher who offers himself for a transformation experiment and soon becomes possessed by Aleister Crowley, which soon turns the school (and the town) upside down.

This film is a aesthetic frosty movie, but incredibly flawed one. It was Co-written by Bruce Dickinson and directed by Julian Doyle, and stars Simon Callow as Haddo, turning in his best performance. We also find a brief notice into Crowley before his death (played by John Shrapnel), and a cameo by Brucey himself (as the guy with thick rimmed glasses at the beginning) .

There are lots of flaws though. The film feels really rushed, I wanted to sort of know more about Crowley's life in general. There's a bit too mighty sex in this film- I know Crowley believed in sexual magic, but did we really need that sweaty orgy scene? They could have implied it instead of making it like 8 minutes long. And I'll admit the effects were a bit cheesy, but then again this IS a coarse budget movie.

Anyways, this film is worth it for the finale alone despite the cheesy special effects. This is a beautiful suited movie, but be aware... this is definitely not for everyone.
I first became aware of Aleister Crowley through press reports that Jimmy Page of led Zeppelin, had been studying the occultist. A period of reading the books of Dennis Wheatley brought a greater awareness of the occult where Crowley's name was frequently mentioned.

This film begins with the impending death of the man whilst being visited by two students from Cambridge University (UK) . Fair before he dies he curses one of the students and inflicts serious injury to him. Sixty years on, at Cambridge there is a conjunction between scientific experiments in a virtual world and the continuing tradition of the occult within the confines of the University. During that conjunction, one of the dons becomes possessed by the spirit of Crowley and graduall transforms into him

The transformation presages a series of events which appear to have been predestined by Crowley and his followers many years before. The purpose of the events gradually unfolds, as they tend to do in these matters, into the return of the fallen angel.

Simon Callow, the RSC actor excels in his portrayal of the restored Crowley. His energies contemplate the larger than life personality of the occultist and the illustrious acts for which he was evil during his lifetime. This is a film of graphic sexuality and bodily functions. Although there is nudity and depictions of orgies and other sexual acts, they are not exhibited except in their role as fraction of the magickal power. The acts are more of the means by which spells are enacted, a transference of the power of the body into other great forms.

Many people will accept this film objectionable for a variety of reasons, the subject of the occult or satanic care for, the sexual nature and exhaust of profanities, the rejection of christian sensibilities or for many other reasons. Nevertheless it is a much depiction of the life of Crowley itself. Ultimately, in the final scenes of the film, very reminiscent of the previous fim, The Devil Rides Out, the world is restored to order.

Given the difficult subject matter, I contemplate that this film has done a first rate job in enlightening the life and works of Aleister Crowley and is to be commended for it.
