My daughters and I fair like the Halloween season and there’s no better movie to examine than this one. We can see it over and over and never acquire tired of it. We always say we’d appreciate to live in Halloweentown year round.(Too unpleasant it’s not a actual town…or is it? ) We’re so gay it finally came out on DVD so now we can spy it whenever we want and don’t have to wait until the one time of year for The Disney Channel to point to it. I can’t say enough about this movie. If you admire Halloween I know you will treasure this movie too. 
I treasure a honorable family Halloween movie. Something that’s not too scary for slight ones, but serene something spellbinding enough for adults. There are actually three of these movies now as the third, “Halloweentown High” came out in 2004 and it’s too abominable that Disney didn’t release all three together.

The basic premise is that there is an alternate world from our contain where it is always Halloween called, of course, Halloweentown. Aggie Cromwell (the gorgeous Debbie Reynolds) is a much witch as is her daughter Gwen (Judith Hoag) . Aggie wants to deny Gwen’s daughter Marnie (Kimberly Brown) to spend her powers before she loses them when she turns 13. This results in a immense argument between Aggy and Gwen. Aggy returns to Halloweentown but Marnie and her two siblings Dylan and Sophie secretly follow her. Once there they learn about a black force threatening Halloween town and only the combined power of all the Cromwell women, including Mom Gwen can cessation it.
In the sequel, virtually the entire Main cast returns as Marnie has now become more proficient with her powers and as we learned at the waste of the first film it turns out that the younger siblings also have developing powers of their fill. This time their aged foe Kalabar is befriend to wreak havoc and try to turn the people of our normal world into monsters.

The special effects and makeup in these films are above average, especially for made-for-tv films. All of the denizens of Halloween town are monsters of some sort and could be a tad scary for shrimp ones but probably not too distinguished. Kimberly Brown really develops as an actress and holds her enjoy with the ragged Debbie Reynolds. Judith Hoag gets to do a bit more in this sequel as well.
All in all these are comely gracious films, salubrious family fun.

In 1986, a horror/zombie film called “Night of the Creeps” became a cult hit among fans due to the film’s comedic nature but also how it pays homage to the fear genre.

Chris is the tranquil type while his best friend and roommate J.C. (who has a disability and walks with crutches) is a spicy jokester and tries to net the girl’s attention for his buddy.
Because Chris is so terrorized, J.C. manages to introduce the girl named Cynthia (played by Jill Whitlow, “Camouflage”, “Reveal Hasten”, “Twice Tedious”) to his friend. But she happens to be dating a frat guy and thus, Chris’s hopes are sprint. Chris comes up with an plan that they should join a frat and when they try, in order to join, they are told to seize a body from the science lab and tumble it in the front porch of another frat.
When Chris and J.C. go to the lab to retrieve the body and releases it from its incubator, the body (which happens to be the guy who discovered the cannister relieve in 1959) has awaken. Startled by the body arresting, Chris and J.C. hurry away in terror.

“Night of the Creeps” is featured in 1L85:1 Anamorphic Widescreen. For a 1986 film, I have to say that the relate quality is pleasing well-behaved and I didn’t inspect any major compressions or massive warping. I can only comment on the DVD version but it doesn’t view like Sony Pictures Home Entertainment aged any major Digital Noise Reduction in the release, so I wonder how nice the Blu-ray transfer may have been. But for the DVD itself, fans should be jubilant to know that this 23-year-old film looks generous.
As for the audio, the audio is presented in English 5.1 Dolby Digital. I was noticing mainly front and center channel dialogue and the music but nothing that caught my attention via the surrounds. So, I ended up switching the audio to “Stereo on All Channels” on my receiver for a more immersive sound. But for the most allotment, dialogue was determined and understandable and that 80’s fresh wave electronic music is certain as well.
Subtitles are presented only in English.

“Night of the Creeps: Director’s Reduce” is a film that has become a cult phenomenon. Over 23-years later and fans continue to savor this classic zombie/horror film and it hearkens relieve to the days when fear films were allowed to have its portion of humor and not always were created to frighten the viewer. You were allowed to laugh and be entertained but the clever writing knew when to apprehension the hell out of you. These were films that families brought their kids out to contemplate and a whole family can be shy together. “Night of the Creeps” was one of those films that can easily be enjoyed by families and a lot of those kids who watched it attend then, are now enjoying it today as adults.
“Night of the Creeps” is a film that pays homage to classic alarm films and is a section of Frank Dekker’s passion for sci-fi and fear films in the past. The film also has that 80’s campiness that some have found luscious and some may secure it not their cup of tea. But it all comes down to the viewer and if one is wanting a comedy anxiety film, “Night of the Creeps” is definitely one of the best out there.
As for the DVD release of “Night of the Creeps: Director’s Prick”, I’m clear people will have their say on what their approved ending will be but for Frank Dekker, he never was a fan of shock endings and although losing the battle to have his new ending featured in the final theatrical lop, Sony Pictures Home Entertainment has given him the thumbs up for a DVD release featuring his novel intended ending for the film. Also, I found the reunion by the cast and crew to be fantastic and also fun and delightful to not honest listen to the commentary but also to survey them goof around during the interview fragment of the special features. Also, Tom Atkins fans will definitely devour a tribute to his career and an interview where Atkins discusses his films and the talents that he has worked with. So, I have no doubt in my mind that fans will regain this DVD release to be appealing and fun to contemplate. It’s a solid DVD release!
Overall, if you are a huge fan of this film, I highly recommend “Night of the Creeps: Director’s Lop” on DVD or Blu-ray. And yes, you will definitely be “thrilled”.

Based quite rigidly on the best selling fresh by Louis L’Amour, we score Sean Connery in the lead role here complete with Scottich brogue, that sits OK despite being a dusty, rough around the edges hero. Not often seen on reruns, and I don’t know why this film didn’t glean great exposure, as many people I know haven’t seen it, or even heard of it. I’m tempted to say at this point, that this is not a movie that will live long in the memory, but don’t be keep off – it has a strangely compelling quality and realistic feel, and a better than average script. There a number of violent scenes, most notably the grissly demise of one of the lead characters (I won’t say who) at the hands of a vicious band of Indians, and you could arrangement some comparisons with the dispute of movies like “Soldier Blue” although that came along several years after this. On the whole this is a proper solid western, with huge acting handsome considerable all round, the 60’s film style is evident in Ms Bardot’s blooming appearance throughout, despite her supposedly being in the dusty relieve of beyondville, but this is nothing to acquire too upset about. With the cast this movie has–Sean Connery, Brigitte Bardot, Jack Hawkins, Stephen Boyd, Honor Blackman, Peter van Eyck, Valerie French, and Woody Strode–and based on a current by Louis L’Amour (and with a foreword by him) this should have been a considerable better Western than it is! It’s a dumb consuming anecdote of a hunting party that becomes the hunted party. Shalako (the name means “rain bringer” in Zuni Indian), played by Connery, rescues a group of European noblefolk on a hunting expedition in Modern Mexico in the 1880s after they hurry afoul of hostile Apaches, who like to hunt, too; they like to hunt the “white-eyes,” whether European or home-grown, who invade their territory!
This DVD has no bonus features at all, not even the theatrical trailer! Unbiased a scene selector menu. But the image quality is quite excellent and you have a choice of widescreen or beefy frame. Sean Connery looks helpful in his buckskins and six-shooter, in his prime before the gray beard and bald pate. Brigitte Bardot is simply lovely, as is Honor Blackman (GOLDFINGER, THE AVENGERS TV series.) I recommend this DVD as a novelty item mostly, for Connery fans (it’s his only Western–if you don’t count OUTLAND!) and Bardot fans (it’s her only Western, too–if you don’t count LES PETROLEUSES, a French-Italian oater!)
I first saw this movie at my well-liked drive-in theater in `68, and the only thing I remembered about it was Bardot’s modestly demure bare aid scene, until I saw it again on this DVD edition. This movie is objective rather forgettable! It was filmed on dwelling in Spain, and Spain doesn’t ogle anything at all like the American Southwest, a fact European “Western” makers should realize, and that any John Ford fan can attest to!

If you like non-stop action and spacious special effects then ‘The Mummy Returns’ is worth watching. Wrestling fans will be cheerful to look ‘The Rock’ cast as the Scorpion King. Female fans of Oded Fehr, the Israeli actor, will be ecstatic to contemplate him cast again as the dashing Egyptian horseman and fighter Ardeth Bay.
Rick O’Connell (Brendan Fraser) and Evie (Rachel Weisz) are married in this sequel and have a young son who does a superior job of keeping the villains on their toes. Evie is supposed to be a reincarnation of Nefertiti, the Pharaoh’s daughter. Imhotep (Arnold Vosloo), the Pharaoh’s high priest, and Anck-Su-Namun (Patricia Velazquez), the priest’s paramour, are brought support to life to fight the Scorpion King and engage control of the army of Anoubis, the dim god of the underworld.
Some movie buffs have expressed reservations about the historical inaccuracies in both ‘The Mummy’ and ‘The Mummy Returns’. However, these inaccuracies are not offensive to Egyptian Culture. This movie is merely a work of fiction. Some scenes and dialogs may seem to be cliched. Several scenes are a rehash of ‘The Mummy’. The characters in the movie jokingly admit to the ’same stale ruin of the world’ state.

Even with all its cliches, this movie is worth watching.
Anyone looking for a “ample” movie will probably be disappointed, but anyone looking for sheer fun will probably be more than glad. Director Steven Sommers took his appetizing 1999 movie “The Mummy” and expanded it out to an tale scale. The action picks up 10 years after the original; tomb raiders Evelyn and Rick O’Connell (now married, with 8-year-old child Alex in tow) leer another Egyptian artifact (the bracelet of the legendary Scorpion King) that unleashes yet another exertion to the world, and once again, Evie and Rick have to cessation it.
A contingent of poor guys, however, want in on the action, and they raise Imhotep (the mummy from the first movie) because he’s the only one strong enough to capture on the Scorpion King. The awful guys are led by a woman named Meela, who claims to be the reincarnation of Anck-Su-Namun, Imhotep’s long-lost forbidden savor.
Sommers cleverly adds an expanded backstory to the main characters from the earlier film, and while some of it stretches the imagination– it seems like every character is a reincarnation of someone else– it’s executed in a mostly fun and believable arrangement. In particular, the development of an obsolete rivalry between Evelyn and Meela is fabulously well-done, adding distinguished dimension to the reasons for Imhotep’s cross punishment in the first film. Arnold Vosloo was large in “The Mummy,” but now, teamed up with his long-lost savor, he’s a thousand times more fun– creepier, smarter, and yet at times endearingly vulnerable.

Mystical warrior Ardath Bay (the very hot Oded Fehr) also has an expanded role in this film, and helps ground viewers when they are faced with things like multiple reincarnations and hoardes of screaming pygmy mummies. Fehr brings exactly the legal touches of appeal, swashbuckling hump, and “exotic” Middle Eastern mystery to the role.
A surprising amount of care seems to have been given to the supporting characters; they have unbiased enough depth but not too much: Evie’s brother Jonathan is encourage, providing remarkable of the funny relief (but he also has some fabulous moments of heroism) ; limited Alex is fun and resourceful without being overly precocious. Special care seems to have been taken with the villains: they are by turns menacing, humorous, and *smart*, often a rare thing in the action/ adventure genre. In particular, Bay’s rival Lock Nah is well-written and well-acted.
The script isn’t exactly Shakespeare, but it’s mercurial, droll, and (mostly) makes sense. The action sequences are spectacularly well-choreographed, and of course, the special effects are impressive. Sommers also allows some fabulous moments of human emotion: the sexual chemistry between Evie and Rick (ditto Meela and Imhotep) ; Jonathan’s wretchedness for his sister and nephew; Evie and Rick’s cherish for their son; Bay’s exertion for his friends (and his titanic affection for his improbable hawk) . These limited touches develop the dissimilarity between a mindless action flick, and something that really stays with you after the credits roll.
Oddly enough, the much-touted presence of WWF star “The Rock” as the Scorpion King turns out to be almost negligible: it’s a cameo that mostly sets up his contain account “The Scorpion King,” due out in 2002. The exact heart of this movie are the Evelyn-Rick and Imhotep- Anck-Su-Namun worship stories. Without these and the other substantial characters from “Mummy Returns,” it’s hard to imagine that the next movie in this franchise could possibly top this one.
So if you’re looking for something spacious, rent “Lawrence of Arabia.” If you’re looking for a highly scrumptious popcorn flick, “The Mummy Returns,” should fit the bill perfectly.

I was rather pleasantly surprised by this film. Obviously, the storyline is by no means modern, and I’ve seen too many films featuring kids and adults miraculously switching places to feel all that confident about going once more into a similar breach, but 13 Going on 30 is actually, well, delicious. I’m a mammoth Jennifer Garner fan going all the diagram attend to her role in the short-lived Time of Your Life; by and great, I contemplate she did a astonishing job in this role. It is certainly a different Jennifer Garner than we recognize on Alias, and it certainly appears as if she relished a role in which she got to be amusing and whimsical. I plan the early scenes featuring 13-year-old Jenna reacting to the instant passing of 17 years and adjusting to her fresh, uh, accessories was a petite awkward, and a determined lack of continuity in regard to her reactions to fresh stimuli popped up sporadically as the film progressed. One microscopic she’s acting like a young teenager, and then she will suddenly seem to have grown up into her current age to a necessary degree. Anyway, she discovers that all of her dreams have arrive true: she was celebrated, and she has become considerable successful in life – actually sitting atop the fashion magazine she was addicted to as a kid. Before long, though, she begins to peek that having it all isn’t all it is cracked up to be. This grown-up body she inhabits is actually a rather empty shell of a not so nice person. She learns that she has done some rather putrid things over the course of the missing 17 years. The only person she can turn to is her friend Matt (Trace Ruffalo), but the two have gone in very different directions over the years. In the process of trying to build her magazine, Jenna learns that the dreams of childhood don’t turn out the contrivance you belief they would and other definite life lessons, etc., etc. You can probably guess what happens at the destroy.
The film does succeed rather well as a comedy; the Thriller dance scene, while miserable to glance, is indeed quite droll, and some of adult Jenna’s interactions with young teens also play well. I also loved the fact that the movie helped grasp me assist to the 1980s, to some degree. There are some classic 80s tunes on the soundtrack, and beginning the film with the sound of the Go-Go’s definitely qualifies for a star in my book. That being said, I have to say that I don’t remember some of the terrible hair-dos of the film actually existing in the gradual 80s – certainly not among the girls my eyes gravitated toward in those halcyon days of youth.
In the extinguish, this is basically your humorous, curious, feel-good comedy, and it stars one of Hollywood’s most graceful, talented actresses. It doesn’t try to be anything more than what it is, and that is a gigantic reason why it works as well as it does. It is by no means a must-see, but I do possess it is a film you cannot aid but be pleased.
